The BIRD (Banking Input Reading Device) from ETS has been specifically designed for retail banking applications. This unique design allows the bank to limit clutter at the teller position by combining a cheque reader and two smart card readers in a single Serial connected housing.

As the BIRD Serial employs the ETS SSPD (Single Serial Port Driver) and EtsCore Chipset, communication between device and host can be conducted over a single serial cable. This solution can lead to improved teller operator efficiency and equipment down time due to the more compact operating environment with fewer cables and enhanced MTBF.
